Children are important to Jesus, and are an integral part of the community of Denver Presbyterian Church. We love kids, and are committed to helping every child under our care to know and experience God’s love for them, and to grow into wise and compassionate young adults who love God, their neighbors, and the world.
The Bible and common sense both affirm that the primary responsibility for each child rests with his or her parents. Therefore, we believe that the role of the church is to assist parents in the nurture and care of their children. Beginning in the fall, we will do this in several ways:
- Worship Services
We encourage the presence of children in every aspect of our worship service. However, we recognize that many parents of infants and toddlers prefer to have childcare assistance during worship, and most young children benefit from age-appropriate teaching. In order to enrich the worship experience for both children and parents, we provide:
- Childcare (ages 3 and under)
We provide nursery care for children ages 3 and under in a safe, clean and fun environment. If you plan on placing your child in the nursery, please bring a bag containing diapers, cup or bottle, pacifier, blanket, etc.
- Worship Training (ages 4 to 6)
During the sermon, we provide worship training for children ages 4 to 6. During worship training, young children enjoy an engaging, age-appropriate service that communicates the reality of God’s love for them, and prepares them to participate in corporate worship with all of the big people.
- Children’s Worship Guides (ages 7-10)
For children ages 7 to 10, we provide special worship guides designed to enrich their participation in worship.
- Childcare (ages 3 and under)
- Home Studies
One of the most powerful ways that children grow in their faith and love for Jesus is by reading the Bible and praying with their parents. Therefore, we provide study guides designed to help parents and children to enjoy learning about God and His Word together.
- Parent Training
Unfortunately, many of us grew up without positive models for parenting which we desire to emulate. As a result, one of the great needs that parents have is for mentorship and training in how to raise their children. We will provide such training formally through classes, seminars, articles and book recommendations. Informally, we encourage parents to support one another through relationships with mentors and peers.
